Upma Tikki Chaat....

Upma being favourite traditional snack item after poha,Yesterday when guests visited us I had made upma for them. They all enjoyed mix veg upma but still little amount was left behind.I thought of eating it the very next day as I hate wasting food.Today me and my hubby somehow were not in a mood to eat it again.I was thinking what can be done with this. Suddenly one idea stuck in my mind as I remembered chaat food items which we used to enjoy in india...I deceided in the evening I will make upma tikki chaat and will offer it to my hubby after cuming from office ...and to the surprise he liked it as it tasted amazingly good.

So here I would like to share it with you all. Hope u all will surely enjoy it!
The step-by-step methodology of it is as follows:

1 Big Cup Upma (left over or fresh)-I took leftover mix veg upma.
1 medium sized onion -finely chopped
2 medium sized potatoes- boiled, peeled and mashed
1/2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
11/2 tbsp Maida or all purpose flour-for binding
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
a pinch of turmeric
1/2 tsp Chat masala
1 tbsp chopped coriandersalt as per your taste
Oil for making tikkis and shallow frying.
2 tbsp Sweet Dahi

Tamarind Dates chutney:

Small orange sized Tamarind-allow it to soak in water for 2-3 hrs.
3/4 th cup grated jaggery.
3-4 tsp chilli powder.
1 tsp cumin powder.
Salt as per your taste.
10-12 dates soaked in ample water for 2-3 hrs.

1.mix all ingredients together nicely and grind it in mixer to a fine paste.

Note:-This chutney can be used with any of your favourite chaat item and can be refrigerated for 10-12 days so no worry if prepared in large amount.

1.Mix well Upma in a bowl such that no lumps are left behind
2.Add the mashed Potato,maida,chopped onions,green chillies,red chilli powder,chat masala,salt,turmeric and coriander to it
3.Mix everything properly.
4.slightly grease your hands and make tikkis of it and fry it on tawa on both sides with little oil.
5.Place hot tikkis in a serving bowl.
6.Pour tamarind chutney on it.Also green coriander chutney if you like.
7.Over it add shev and dahi.

Here is the picture of prepared tikkis: you can enjoy plain tikkis also as shown in picture with tomato ketchup ,any type of sauce or green chutney also. But we prefered eating it with tamarind chutney and sweet Dahi like aloo tikki chaat.
